Neterra celebrates 1 year since the end of monopoly in telecoms
Published: 19/05/2004
Neterra guests enjoyed live music by Misho Iosifov, Petar Momchev, Vesselin Vesselinov, Milen Kukosharov and Stefan Kozhuharov from the jazz formation "Infinity".
At the end of March, Neterra completed a one-year project worth over $1 million for the construction of a telecommunication channel linking the Bulgarian capital Sofia to global telecom networks. The high-speed telecom highway, connecting Bulgaria to the telecom networks of neighbouring Romania, has a capacity of 622 Mbps and meets the data transfer requirements of the country's major telecom operators and Internet providers.
Neterra's high-speed data transfer channel is the only alternative for landline international connectivity to the telecom network of the former state monopoly. Mobiltel, Mobikom, Lirex Net, Spectrum Net, Orbitel, Elit Sat, STS Holding, Macedonian telecom operator Sonet and other telecom service providers have already signed up for the new service.
Neterra is Bulgaria's only alternative telecommunications operator licensed to provide international connectivity on the country's territory and is the first operator to develop its own network linking Bulgarian operators to global telecom channels.
